Passport Validity Extension

Nationals of Afghanistan residing in Germany, especially those living in Bayern and Baden-Württemberg who holds previous Machine Readable Passports (MRP) may apply for a validity extension at this Consulate General.

Application Submission
  • The applicant must visit the Consulate General in person. The passport extension cannot be processed in the absence of the applicants or via post or online.
  • Important: Applicants must book an appointment in advance using the following link: [Termin].
    Visiting the Consulate General without an appointment is not permitted.
  • Submit your application during working hours.
  • Payment can only be made via bank card at the Consulate General.
  • please upload  a standard biometric passport photo using the link https://image.afghanconsulatemunich.de by entering your passport number. The uploaded photo will be used for extension.
Required Documents for Passport Validity Extension
  1. Completed Application Form: The passport validity extension form can be downloaded [Dari Form] or [Pashto Form].
  2. Original Passport and Copies: Include a copy of the data page [Sample]. If the passport has been extended before, include a copy of the extension page as well.
  3. Photo Requirements: You must provide one biometric passport-size photo.[Sample]
  4. Verified Dari/English Tazkira: Submit a certified copy of your Dari/English Tazkira, verified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan or e-Tazkira [Sample].
  5. Child Born in Germany: Submit the child’s birth certificate [Sample] along with the parents’ marriage certificate, Tazkira, or passports (both father and mother).
  6. Proof of German Resident Permit: Submit a copy of your Aufenthaltstitel/Personalausweis [Sample] (both side – showing the name and address of the passport holder).
  7. Extension Fee: The fee for a 5-year extension is €100. (Passports are only extended for 5 years starting from the date of expiry).
Important Notes
  • If you do not have a passport to renew, cannot fulfill the requirements for a new passport, and have been asked by German authorities to provide one, please apply for a Negative Confirmation for Passport Application accordingly.
  • Important: Do not send cash by post under any circumstances.
  • Important: Do not send your original Tazkira (ID card).
